Lee Yates

Operations Manager

Lee is the Operations Manager for the Big Data Institute (BDI)/Oxford Population Health Building. He oversees the running and upkeep of the building.

The role as an operations manager is very complex and diverse, covering reactive and planned works. Lee oversees the amazing, dedicated and hard working Facilities Team onsite. He is a great believer in aiding mental health and will be looking towards becoming a mental health champion.

Lee has worked at the University of Oxford for over 17 years, starting out at the Wellcome Centre for Human Genetics as a senior laboratory technician overseeing the running of the labs and then moving up to operations manager.

Prior to university life, Lee managed a team of 18 technicians in a blood lab in industry (Medisense) for 11 years and worked for Exxon Mobil testing diesel samples before that.
