Cai Heath

Cai is researching strategies for the translation of women's health research into impact, as well as reading for a doctorate in Population Health, investigating the ethical and equal involvement of low- and middle-income country (LMIC) governments in global health research.

Cai Heath is a global health ethics researcher with over fifteen years of experience in LMIC-based health research, international development, and capacity strengthening work. He has worked in a range of both research and research management roles at the University of Oxford and Imperial College London on large-scale operational health research and capacity-building programmes funded by the World Bank, GIZ, the Gates Foundation and Wellcome. More recently, he spent six months seconded into the UK's Department for Health and Social Care focusing on evidence and evaluation workstreams

Cai's background is in social science, particularly the institutional dynamics of community development in LMICs. He has worked, volunteered and researched extensively in Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, India, Nepal and Kenya over the past 15 years as well as engaging in shorter project work in Ethiopia, Myanmar and Uganda. He received an MSc in International Development from the University of Birmingham in 2010.
