Anna Mae Scott

Researcher in Evidence Synthesis

  • Honorary Adjunct Assistant Professor, Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare, Bond University, Australia
  • Visiting Fellow, Centre for Health Informatics, Australian Institute for Health Innovation, Macquarie University, Australia

I joined Oxford in November 2023, to lead evidence synthesis and patient and public engagement projects focusing on demand for health and social care, within the REAL Demand Unit. Previously, I was an assistant professor at Bond University and Research Fellow at the University of Sydney in Australia, and led a study on shared decision-making in clinics in Poland.

My research interests focus on evidence synthesis conduct and methodology. I co-invented a method to accelerate the conduct of systematic reviews from their current average of 66 weeks to approximately two weeks, without sacrificing methodological quality. The 2weekSR (“2 week systematic review”) initiative – which I lead – focuses on the development of automation tools and new processes to vastly accelerate the completion time to one to four weeks for all types of evidence syntheses.

In the area of patient and public engagement, my work focuses mainly on integrating the patients’ and the community members’ views and participation into research topic prioritisation, conduct of evidence syntheses, clinical decision-making and health technology assessment processes.
