Nathan Samuel

Nathan joined the Clinical Trial Service Unit &and Epidemiological Studies Unit (CTSU) in 2021 as an academic foundation doctor where he worked with the Cholesterol Treatment Trialists’ Collaboration. He then completed the MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology in 2023-24 and is now a clinical doctoral research fellow pursuing a DPhil in Population Health supervised by Professor Jemma Hopewell and Professor David Preiss. His doctoral works focuses on risk prediction of cardiovascular events and response to anacetrapib among patients with existing atherosclerotic disease using data from the REVEAL trial.
Prior to joining Oxford Population Health, Nathan completed his medical degree at Hull York Medical School and an integrated degree in Medical Sciences with Cardiovascular Sciences at Imperial College London. He has previously published on the relation between thyroid dysfunction and heart failure and the significance of cardiac troponin in patients with malignancy. He also chairs the student and foundation doctor network of the Royal College of Physicians where he promotes the role of clinical research opportunities within medical training.
Nathan hopes to combine a career in research, innovation, and clinical medicine. In his spare time, he is most likely to be found on the golf course, or walking around town with a coffee while listening to a podcast.
