The Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaires

The PDQ-39 Revisited 

In the nineties researchers in the Health Services Research Unit developed the 39-item Parkinson’s Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) in order to assess the impact of Parkinson’s disease on health-related quality of life. Recent research has suggested the items and wording are as relevant today as they were when the measure was developed. However, we are taking this opportunity to potentially develop optional modules that could be added to trials aimed at specific aspects of the disease. Further information on these optional modules will be posted here when they are available.

The Parkinson's Disease Carer Questionnaire (PDQ-Carer)

 The PDQ-Carer is a 29-item measure of health related quality of life for use with carers of people with Parkinson’s disease. It was originally designed and validated for pen and paper completion, and has recently been transferred to an electronic format for use on personal computers, laptops, tablet computers and smart phones. We need to test whether it can be used effectively on these devices. Between 1st June and 30th September 2018 we will be conducting interviews with a small number of carers for people with Parkinson’s disease in order to assess the usability and acceptability of the PDQ-Carer in electronic format.
