We are pleased to announce that a studentship is available for the DPhil in Population Health. This Cancer Research UK-funded studentship will fully fund a single student for up to four years with a generous £19,000 stipend. The project is under the supervision of Professor Tim Key and Dr Ruth Travis, and aims to contribute to the evidence on potentially modifiable risk factors for prostate cancer through epidemiological studies of biomarkers of risk, and of correlated dietary, lifestyle, hormonal and genetic factors. There will be a focus on identifying risk factors for the more aggressive forms of prostate cancer. This research will be part of a major programme of work on prostate cancer within the Cancer Epidemiology Unit. More information about the project this studentship will support can be found on the NDPH website.
Those wishing to apply should have a 2.1 or higher degree in a quantitative science and ideally an MSc in a related subject would be desirable. Candidates should also have a strong interest in cancer epidemiology. The project involves statistical and epidemiological research skills. Students will require previous programming experience of using statistical analysis packages and analysis of large datasets and an aptitude and interest in extending these skills. Training in the use and interpretation of such analyses will be provided.
To apply, please visit the Graduate Admissions and Funding website for the programme.
The deadline for admissions for this studentship will be 13 March 2015.
