Bastian joined the Clinical Trial Service Unit & Epidemiological Studies Unit (CTSU) in October 2021 as a DPhil student in Population Health.

His DPhil research investigates the associations between adiposity and the risk of severe respiratory infections, using both primary care from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink and prospective data from the UK Biobank.
