Plain language summary - This research project aims to investigate the outcomes of patients who have had an operation to remove their bowel cancer. Specifically, we will look at whether those with diabetes (inability to properly process carbohydrates) are more likely to develop a quick decline in their kidney function following surgery to remove bowel cancer. Identifying whether patients with diabetes are more at risk of these kidney problems will allow for appropriate planning before surgery to reduce the chances of kidney problems post-surgery.
