Yamato Uejima joined the Clinical Trial Service Unit and Epidemiological Studies Unit (CTSU) in October 2025 as a DPhil student in Population Health. His research aims to explore the relationship between vascular-metabolic disorders, cognitive impairment, and dementia. His DPhil is supervised by Dr Reem Malouf, Dr Andrew Browne, Dr Louisa Gnatiuc, and Dr Thomas Littlejohns. His research is supported by the Oxford-Uehiro Graduate Scholarship and the Nuffield Department of Population Health.
Prior to starting his DPhil, he completed an MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology at the University of Oxford and an MPH at Imperial College London. Before joining Oxford, he worked at Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, where he contributed to national policies on reforming long-term care and dementia care.
