Xudong Ma

Postdoctoral Researcher

Dr. Xudong Ma is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Oxford Population Health, where his research focuses on the automated analysis and diagnosis of cardiac ultrasound, as well as the application of vision-language models to medical imaging. His work aims to harness the complementary strengths of visual and linguistic representations to advance intelligent clinical decision support systems.

He completed his doctoral degree at the University of Bristol, where his research encompassed a broad range of medical image processing challenges, including MRI-ultrasound registration and fusion, cross-modality image translation, and three-dimensional reconstruction from ultrasound data. Prior to his doctorate, he was awarded a Master of Information Technology with Distinction from the University of Melbourne, where he built a rigorous foundation in computing and data-driven methodologies.

Dr. Ma's expertise spans deep learning, multimodal medical image analysis, and vision-language modelling, with applications across MRI and ultrasound modalities. His current work at Oxford seeks to develop scalable, interpretable tools for cardiac diagnosis, bridging the gap between advanced AI research and real-world clinical practice.
