Konrad Nilsson

MD, PhD

Researcher

Dr Nilsson joined the Clinical Trial Service Unit & Epidemiological Studies Unit (CTSU) in July 2025, where he will be involved in several ongoing projects as well as in the planning of new projects, with tasks including study design, data analysis, grant applications, and project management.

Before coming to Oxford, he earned his medical degree from Uppsala University, Sweden, in 2017, followed by an internship and subsequent training in internal medicine at Visby Hospital, Sweden, obtaining board certification in 2024. He has since continued his training in cardiology. In parallel with his clinical work, he pursued a PhD and, in 2024, defended his thesis, “Clinical Outcomes after Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI)”, at Uppsala University, Sweden. The thesis consisted of observational studies with data obtained from several Swedish national registries and investigated important clinical outcomes, such as complication rates, hospitalisation rates, and differences in treatment availability within the population undergoing TAVI in Sweden. Building on this, he now wants to focus more on randomised evidence and has a particular interest in how existing data collected from routine health care can be used to answer important questions reliably.
