Jun Li

DPhil Student

Jun is a DPhil student at the Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford. He joined in 2025 and is jointly affiliated with the Big Data Institute and the Oxford Centre for Clinical Magnetic Resonance Research. His doctoral research focuses on multimorbidity studies using the UK Biobank, with an emphasis on investigating the body-wide impact of myocardial fibrosis through Virtual Native Enhancement and advanced cardiovascular imaging. He is supervised by Associate Professor Qiang Zhang, Professor Thomas Nichols, and Professor Vanessa Ferreira.

Before joining Oxford, Jun completed both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Imperial College London. There, he developed a strong foundation in machine learning, particularly in computer vision, natural language processing, and multimodal data analysis. His master’s thesis explored visual–language modelling in radiology, integrating imaging data with clinical reports.

Jun’s research interests lie in developing and applying deep learning methods to analyse, predict, and interpret large-scale, multimodal healthcare data. He aims to leverage these approaches to enhance disease understanding, support early prevention strategies, and uncover new biomedical insights.
