Greg Simond
DPhil student
Greg is a DPhil student on the Cancer Science programme, funded by Cancer Research UK. He is based within the UK Biobank group at the Big Data Institute, and is supervised by Professor Naomi Allen, Associate Professor Ben Lacey, and Dr Lei Clifton.
Greg’s research focuses on developing multi-modal machine learning approaches to improve early cancer detection and risk prediction in the general population. His work draws on large-scale UK Biobank data, including proteomics and linked longitudinal electronic health records, and employs a broad spectrum of machine learning and statistical approaches, from survival modelling to deep learning architectures.
Prior to beginning his DPhil, Greg completed the first four years of his medical degree at Oxford, to which he will return upon completion of his doctoral studies.
