PhD

Postdoctoral Molecular Epidemiologist

Thu Pham is a postdoctoral researcher in the CKB team at Oxford Population Health and the Big Data Institute. Her research applies bioinformatics and machine-learning methods to large-scale proteomic and genetic datasets, aiming to unravel disease mechanisms and identify therapeutic targets. She is particularly interested in leveraging cohorts with diverse ancestral backgrounds, including the China kadoorie Biobank and UK Biobank, to better understand how population differences shape disease risk, biomarker patterns, and disease prediction models or drug targets.

Prior to joining Oxford, she completed her PhD in Health Data Sciences at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC), Berlin, Germany, and subsequently undertook a postdoctoral position at MDC. Her prior research focused on obesity-related biomarkers and the risk of, and survival after, colorectal cancer, conducted within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer (EPIC) study. In addition, she led collaborative projects using data from the German National Cohort (NAKO).
