Bioinformatician
Melody Parker is a bioinformatician in the Big Data Institute as part of the Lindgren group. Her work is in functional genomics and is focused on identifying genes and pathways affected by genetic associations for cardio metabolic traits. Her role includes writing, tailoring and documenting pipelines to perform data quality control, run analyses and visualise results.
Her previous research includes a theoretical study of the MYCN enigma in neuroblastoma (a paediatric cancer), where she created a mathematical model (using ordinary differential equations) of the signal pathway MYCN/ARF/MDM2/P53. Before joining NDPH in 2022, she collected COVID19 data for the University of Oxford and the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
She has a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics and a master’s degree in computational medicine.
