Jess joined the OxWearables Group in October 2025 to begin her DPhil as part of the Cancer Sciences DPhil programme, funded by Cancer Research UK. She is supervised by Dr Stefan van Duijvenboden, Professor Sheraz Markar, and Professor Aiden Doherty.

Jess previously obtained a First Class BA in Medical Sciences and a BMBCh with Distinction in Medicine from the University of Oxford (2014–2020), followed by completion of the Foundation Doctor Programme within the North West London Deanery. She went on to earn an MSc with Distinction in Health Data Science from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2023. Subsequently, she pursued post-graduate surgical training as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in General Surgery at Imperial College London. She is taking time out of her General Surgery training to pursue the clinical fellowship for her DPhil. She is also a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
