Anna Brown joined the Cancer Epidemiology Unit in 1998 to work on data capture processes for the Million Women Study (MWS), which was one of the first studies to use OCR techniques to automate data extraction from high volumes of paper questionnaires. She has also been responsible for the logistics and data management for the four waves of postal resurveys of MWS participants, resulting in the printing and mailing of approximately 8.5 million questionnaires.

In 2009, she completed an MSc in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. More recently, Anna has been involved in data linkage to routine health data, in particular, to Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD). Current work is focused on the pattern of reporting of dementia in primary care records.
