Alejandra Vergara-Lope
PhD
Genetic Epidemiologist
I did my PhD at the University of Southampton in next generation computational modelling, applying mathematical tools for analysing genome function, linkage disequilibrium structure and predicting disease genes. Afterwards, I joined the Big Data Institute at the University of Oxford where my research focused on utilising pathogen genetic sequence data to understand disease transmission patterns. Next, I joined the Università degli Studi di Firenze contributing to the Bayesian Methods for Clinical and Observational Studies project.
My current research within Oxford Population Health focuses on developing and applying statistical methods for inferring local ancestry in Mexicans under the supervision of Jason Torres within the Mexico City Prospective Study.
