Festival of Global Health – 2040

Synopsis

2040 is an inspiring film about initiatives that exist to tackle planetary health issues and the technology already at our disposal that we can all use to make a difference. The film was released in 2019 and won the Planetary Health Film Prize that year.

Award-winning director Damon Gameau embarks on journey to explore what the future would look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them into the mainstream.

The film is structured as a visual letter to his four-year-old daughter, in which Damon blends traditional documentary footage with dramatised sequences and high-end visual effects to create a vision board for his daughter and the planet.

2040 is an optimistic guide to the workable “regenerative” community projects that can help combat climate change.
