MSc, BSc(Hons)

Project Co-ordinator / Administrative Assistant

  • CSOR Project Manager
  • neoGASTRIC trial co-ordinator / Administrative Assistant

Zoe Daskalopoulou joined the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit in the Nuffield Department of Population Health in September 2021. From 2021-2022, she was the data co-ordinator/administrative assistant for the SINEPOST study. The SINEPOST study was a collaboration with the University of Bristol, to investigate the impact of antenatal or neonatal exposure to SARS-CoV-2 infection on infants’ developmental and social-emotional outcomes.

Currently, she has a dual role as the CSOR Project Manager and neoGASTRIC trial co-ordinator. CSOR is a five-year programme, funded by the NIHR, the aim of which is to investigate whether it is possible to reduce unwarranted variation in the health and wellbeing of children undergoing early surgery.

NeoGASTRIC is the largest neonatal trial in the UK and is looking at whether the routine measurement of gastric residual volumes is beneficial for preterm babies. This will be a joint trial with Australia, while also collaborating with Imperial College London and the University of Liverpool.

Zoe previously worked as a data analyst/laboratory technician at Embryogenesis IVF clinic in Athens, Greece. In that role, she was heavily involved in the development and optimisation of an applied ML program designed for the prediction of embryo quality and ploidy. She graduated from the University of Aberdeen with an MSc in Reproductive and Developmental Biology and also holds a BSc (Hons) in Genetics from Aberystwyth University.
