Zeinab Abbas

Zeinab joined HERC in April 2015, and is currently working on a range of projects. Prior to this, she spent 7 months working at Mapi Group, a Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) consultancy firm which is dedicated to supporting access to the market of their clients’ products. While at Mapi, Zeinab contributed to various projects and her tasks included working on scientific reviews, HTA submissions, adapting health economic models and assisting in the preparation of project reports and presentations. The main disease areas in which she worked included Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and haemophilia.

She recently graduated with an MSc in Health Economics from the University of York, and completed a 3 month internship, while completing her dissertation which addressed how few specific guidelines are available for the economic assessment of personalized medicine and discussed the need for a well-structured economic modelling process that can generate robust results and reduce the uncertainty around the potential added value of health. A Markov Model that evaluates the cost-effectiveness of personalised medicines was constructed, using Hepatitis C Virus as an example.
