Noon Altijani Osman Abbakar


DPhil Student

Noon joined the NDPH in 2016 first for an MSc in Global Health Science; she is currently a first-year doctoral student. In her research, she examines maternal mortality in Sudan and aims to develop provider-based maternal death review tools. Noon is co-supervised by Professor Marian Knight and Dr. Manisha Nair and is based at the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit. Outside of her DPhil, Noon is very involved in college life – she is the president of Green Templeton College’s graduate common room and a Clarendon scholar.

Prior to Oxford, Noon studied for an MBBS at Ahfad University for Women in Sudan. Upon graduation, Noon worked in areas of clinical medicine, population health research, and community engagement in Sudan, South Africa, and the United States of America.
