DPhil Student

Josefina started her DPhil in 2021 as a member of Green Templeton College, supported by the Nuffield Department of Population Health Studentship. Her research focuses on the role of dietary fatty acids in the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in the UK. She is supervised by Dr Jennifer Carter, Dr Aurora Pérez-Cornago and Professor Leanne Hodson. Her project aims to combine results from large population-based analyses at the Big Data Institute and Cancer Epidemiology Unit, with data from in-vivo physiological studies at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. 

Prior to her doctoral studies, Josefina studied medicine at the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina (UCA) and the British Hospital of Buenos Aires. During her training she obtained a scholarship to take her medical elective placement at the University of Oxford Medical School. In 2020, she was awarded the NDPH Studentship to study the MSc in Global Health Science and Epidemiology from the University of Oxford. Josefina is interested in health promotion and science communication, and she enjoys art and studying languages.
