Ilana studies factors affecting the provision of breastmilk for premature babies, as part of a general interest in neonatal nutrition. She is co-supervised by Professor Maria Quigley, Professor Mary Fewtrell and Dr Frances O’Brien, and is based at the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit. 

Prior to the DPhil, Ilana practiced paediatric medicine for eight years, and continues to work clinically in the neonatal unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Prior to this she studied Graduate-entry Medicine and also Biological Sciences at the University of Oxford.
