Caroline Wood
Communications Officer
Caroline’s role is to help maximise the visibility and impact of NDPH’s research outputs through strategic communications activities. This involves engaging with a wide range of stakeholders including NDPH staff and students, journalists, funding bodies, trial participants, policy makers and the general public.
Before joining NDPH, Caroline worked as a policy officer for the Science and Technology Facilities Council, one of the UK’s major Research Councils. Prior to this, she completed a PhD at the University of Sheffield, researching methods to control parasitic plants that impact food security. She has been a freelance science writer for over ten years, publishing articles on a broad range of topics for learned societies, educational resources and policy documents. She has a keen interest in public engagement and led a volunteer science engagement group for several years during her PhD. In her spare time, she enjoys hill walking, painting and writing novels.
