Examinations and Assessments

Summative assessments

Throughout the course there are five summative assessments that contribute to the final degree results.

Submitted in April:

  • Data Analysis and Report (10%)
  • Global Health Extended Essay (Choose one essay from a selection of titles) (10%)

During the third week of the third term (mid-May):

  • Written examination paper:"Principles of Statistics and Principles of Epidemiology" (20%)
  • Written examination paper: "Advanced Global Health Science" (20%)

Dissertation (mid August)

A dissertation of up to 10,000 words based on a research placement (40%).

Formative Assessments

During the first two terms there are several formative assessments designed to enable teaching staff and students to monitor progress. Students are provided with feedback on these assessments to help them improve their learning by identifying their strengths and weaknesses. These assessments do not contribute to the final mark.
