Fees and Funding

2023-24 Fees: MSc Global Health Science and epidemiology

There are two elements that you should be aware of when calculating the cost of your studies: the course fees and living costs. Course fees cover academic services and facilities provided to support your studies. They do not cover your accommodation or other living costs. You may have seen separate figures in the past for tuition fees and college fees. The University has now combined these  into a single figure.

Funding Opportunities

The University offers a variety of scholarship programmes based on academic excellence, to give the brightest applicants from around the world the opportunity to pursue graduate study. Over 900 fully-funded scholarships are available for new master's and doctoral students in 2022 from the University, our colleges and supporters.

Most fully funded opportunities at Oxford are only available to students about to start a new course. Once you are registered as a student, there are very few substantive scholarships available, so it is vital to explore your options early.

New opportunity for UK students: fully-funded studentship for the MSc Global Health Science and Epidemiology (2023-24)

Oxford Population Health is committed to increasing its scholarship portfolio to help it attract the best students, irrespective of background or ability to pay. UK students from underprivileged backgrounds are underrepresented on our course so we are taking action to ensure more opportunities for talented students to pursue a postgraduate degree in Population Health.

This new studentship, in association with Green Templeton College, will provide full financial support to a talented UK-resident applicant from an underprivileged background. The student will be a member of Green Templeton College for the duration of their course and will be eligible to apply for college accommodation. One studentship will be available in 2023-24.

The studentship will cover all tuition fees at the ‘Home’ rate and provide a grant for living expenses commensurate with UK Research Council rates (at least £17,668). Awards will be made for the full duration of this one year course.

How to apply

All UK-resident applicants who have submitted their completed application for the MSc Global Health Science and Epidemiology by the December deadline (9 December 2022 at 12 noon) will automatically be considered for the studentship. Please ensure that you answer the questions about your socioeconomic and educational background if you wish to be considered for the studentship. University and Departmental Scholarships    

All applications completed by 12 noon on Friday 9 December 2022 will automatically be considered for all relevant competitive University funding opportunities, including scholarships from NDPH, the Clarendon Fund, Medical Research Council funding, and various College funds. Please refer to the Graduate Admissions and Funding and Costs webpage for this course for further details relating to funded scholarships and divisional funding opportunities.  

The Nuffield Department of Population Health awards a small number of competitive scholarships each year to the brightest and most capable MSc students. This scholarship may fund the MSc fees and/or a stipend of not less than £15,000 for one year.

MSc candidates are encouraged to apply for other independent funding sources for which they may be eligible. Those who are successful in achieving partial funding for their MSc studies may also apply for matched funding from the Nuffield Department of Population Health.
