The MAMA Study is a randomised controlled trial designed to find out whether it is better for women who have inflammatory arthritis and are pregnant to temporarily stop or continue taking biologic medications.

Currently, both continuing and stopping biologics beyond 28 weeks of pregnancy are routine practice in the UK, although this varies between hospitals. The MAMA Study aims to provide evidence on which approach is better.

The economic evaluation alongside the trial aims to assess the impact of continuing biologics on costs and resource use, and to determine which strategy offers the best value for money.
