Mental health HTA and economic evaluations
Mental health problems are a growing global public health concern, with substantial impacts on health‑related quality of life and wide‑ranging economic consequences, including poorer educational outcomes, reduced productivity, and increased demand for health and social care. Learn more about our work in mental health. This underscores the importance of economic evaluations that assess not only the clinical effectiveness of interventions, but also their value for money.
Our work contributes to this evidence base through a range of health economic evaluations across the life course. In children, we assess the costs and benefits of school‑based mental health screening programmes followed by digital interventions involving parent–therapist support. In adults, we evaluate innovative interventions such as outdoor swimming for mild to moderate depression and virtual reality therapies for psychosis, using diverse study designs and data sources to determine both effectiveness and cost‑effectiveness.
