TRANSLATE is a UK‑wide, multi‑centre randomised clinical trial designed to determine whether local anaesthetic transperineal prostate (LATP) biopsy improves the detection of clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa)—defined as International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) Grade Group ≥2 disease (any Gleason pattern 4)—compared with transrectal ultrasound‑guided prostate biopsy (TRUS) in biopsy‑naïve men. A secondary objective is to determine the cost‑effectiveness of LATP compared with TRUS.
