Funder: World Health Organization. Project dates: Ongoing

The aim of this project is to advance the achievement of the objectives in the Global Action Plan for the Prevention and Control of NCDs 2013-2020 and the non-communicable disease-(NCD) related targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Communities of Practice (CoP) are closed networks of a diverse range of stakeholders with expertise in a certain area: in this case the prevention and control of NCDs.  Members of the CoP share knowledge and resources through a web-based discussion platform.  In 2017, seven different CoPs were established in partnership with the WHO Global Coordination Mechanism on NCDs. The CPNP coordinates and facilitates one of these CoPs: the Community of Practice on Multi-Sectoral Action for Non-Communicable Diseases.

The CPNP has facilitated three virtual discussions for this CoP and produced three corresponding reports summarising the discussion.  A further five virtual discussions are planned for 2018 to continue to provide a space for more dialogue between stakeholders involved in the development and implementation of multi-sectoral action for NCD prevention and control.
