The Centre on Population Approaches for Non-Communicable Disease Prevention is a collaborating centre with the World Health Organization

In October 2013 the British Heart Foundation Health Promotion Research Group (renamed the Centre on Population Approaches for Non-Communicable Disease Prevention (CPNP) in 2017) was designated as a WHO Collaborating Centre on Population Approaches for Non-Communicable Disease Prevention and in October 2017 the CPNP was redesignated as a collaborating centre for a further four years. 

 

The terms of reference for the collaborating centre are:

  1. To work with WHO in capacity building for NCD prevention and control including development of appropriate tools 
  2. To contribute to WHO's work in implementing guidelines and policy actions for promoting physical activity and a healthy and a sustainable food environment to prevent obesity and NCDs
  3. To assist WHO in systematic reviews and analysis of evidence related to population based NCD prevention and control
  4. To contribute to the work related to the development, implementation and evaluation of multi-sectoral NCD action plans
