The Nuffield Department of Population Health conducts world-leading research into the causes, prevention and treatment of diseases worldwide and was ranked first in the UK for research in the area of public health, health services and primary care in the most recent Research Excellence Framework. The department is part of the University’s Medical Sciences Division.

We are offering 2 work experience opportunities in 2020.

1. Epidemiological Laboratory 8-12 June 2020 

This placement will offer students an insight into methods used for measurement of biomarkers in samples collected for our epidemiological studies.  Students will gain experience in our automated clinical chemistry laboratory and our specialist assay laboratory where ELISA and NMR methods are being developed.

Applicants must be aged 16 years or over on the first day of the placement. 

2. Population Health Research 6-10 July 2020

This placement will give students the opportunity to spend time with several groups working on different projects within the department.  Students will gain an insight into various roles, such as epidemiologist, research assistant, health economist and communications officer.

Applicants must be in year 10 or above.
