Helen Crocker

Helen Crocker is a Researcher within the Applied Health Research Unit and NIHR-funded Quality, Safety and Outcomes Policy Research Unit.  Helen is currently involved in studies investigating healthcare-related harm, and the development of quality within Integrated Care Systems.  Her previous research has explored patients’ experiences of health care services, the impact of health policy changes, and the development and use of patient-reported outcome measures and core outcome sets. 

Helen has a particular interest in coeliac disease and has been involved in a number of studies in this area, including the development of the Coeliac Disease Assessment Questionnaire (CDAQ), a patient-reported outcome measure to assess quality of life in adults with coeliac disease.  Further details about the CDAQ are available from Oxford University Innovation, who manage and licence the measure.

Helen completed a DPhil in Population Health at the University of Oxford in 2016.  Her doctoral research investigated the health-related quality of life of adults with coeliac disease and their experiences of health care services to diagnose and manage the condition.  Helen achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology from the University of Portsmouth, graduating in 2006.  In 2009, she completed a Master's degree in Social Science Research Methods at Cardiff University.
