INTRODUCTION I initially gave a workshop on this subject based on my personal interest in blues music and as a challenge to explore its educational potential. My approach is consciously non-linear, exploratory, and derived from humanities values rather than ‘hard’ science values. I am writing as a psychiatrist with an amateur’s love of the blues: I am neither a musicologist nor a music therapist.
