Tzu-Ying Liu

Tzu-Ying Liu joined the Nuffield Department of Population Health in October 2022 as a DPhil student. Her DPhil project focuses on assessing health inequalities in premature mortality attributed to non-communicable diseases through an analysis of the UK Biobank, aiming to improve understanding of the biological pathways by which socioeconomic disadvantage cause premature death. She is jointly supervised by Dr Ben Lacey and Prof. Naomi Allen. 

Prior to commencing her DPhil, Tzu-Ying Liu obtained an MSc in Data Science from Northwestern University and an MPhil in Population Health Sciences from University of Cambridge. Her MPhil dissertation focused on estimating blood cell deterioration based on the morphological features of blood smears and assessing the association between the propensity for blood deterioration and epidemiological exposure variables. She also had several years of experience working in the public affairs sector.
