Alaina Shreves

I am a National Institutes of Health (NIH OxCam) Scholar at the University of Oxford and the National Cancer Institute (NCI). My DPhil is co-supervised by Prof. Aiden Doherty (Oxford Population Health), Prof. Ruth Travis (Oxford Cancer Epidemiology Unit), and Dr. Charles Matthews (NCI Metabolic Epidemiology Branch).

My research uses machine learning and epidemiology methods to quantify accelerometer-measured activity for cancer risk models. Ultimately, I hope this research will inform population-level physical activity guidelines, decreasing the incidence of cancer and other chronic disease risk factors.

Before joining Oxford, I received a Master of Science in epidemiology from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science from the College of William and Mary, with majors in neuroscience and public health.
